Canon Ink Cartridges
Canon ink cartridges are easily identified. The cartridge number begins with the letter "B". After that, the numbers are unique to the printer. The label on the Canon ink cartridge box will identify the printers with which it is compatible. Even though cartridges may look alike, one should ensure they are using the right cartridge for their printer. Failure to do this may ruin the cartridge, damage the printer or get ink all over the inside of your printer. I had the problem of ink all over (not on a Canon printer.) and it was a mess to clean up. Unlike HP, where most cartridges have the head built in with the cartridge, the Canon ink cartridge is separate from the print head. Canon recommends the heads be changed somewhere between 20 and 40 ink cartridge usage.. For my part, I would not go to that expense until I had to do so.
