Photo Printers

Photo printers are great for the owners of a digital camera or a scanner. A photo printer is a great way to get your image on paper in a style of high quality at a minimal cost. If you don't have a good photo printer and you own a digital camera, you must either take your memory card to a place that does printing and have them print them for you or have one of the on-line places do the printing. If you take a lot of pictures, owning your own photo printer is the way to go.

I have two photo printers, one of which is an HP All In One, while the other is a Canon Photo printer that my wife uses on her system. Personally, I prefer the HP photo printers but, naturally my wife prefers the Canon photo printer.

A photo printer is a bit more expensive to operate, since typically, they have more ink cartridges than does a standard inkjet printer. My wife's Canon photo printer has 6 cartridges while my HP photo printer has two cartridges, One of which is a tri color while the other is black. My suggestion would be not to buy an HP all in one unless you are trying to hold down costs. My reason for this is because HP separates the heads from the ink container in their all in one forcing you to buy heads also. If they are infrequently used, they will clog and then are useless.

I am frequently asked "What is the best photo printer?" or who makes the best photo printer? That is not an easy question to answer. My personal preference is the HP photo printer. They tend to be a bit quicker and the ink cartridges are easier to find. HP photo paper is more readily available also. The downside to the HP Photo printer is the inks tend to run if the photo gets wet. The Epson photo printers are the only ones that have waterproof ink. I (again, this is personal) don't like the Epson photo printer because it seems to me to be rather slow. I feel the same way about the Canon photo printers. It takes a good bit longer to get the photo out than does the HP photo printer.
