Ink Cartridges

After your purchase of an ink jet printer, your most significant expense is going to be the purchase of ink cartridges.  Depending on the manufacturer of the cartridge, prices can be quite high.  For example, HP ink cartridges are larger than most other manufacturers and therefore are more expensive.  Ink cartridges for Photo printers are also more expensive and there tends to be an additional ink cartridge or two used to get a more vivid set of colors.  The color ink cartridges tend to be a little more expensive than the black cartridge.  Black is the color your printer will use the most.  You should not purchase cartridges ahead since the ink tends to clog if left on the shelf for a long period of time.
Another point to remember, ink cartridges installed in a printer will dry out if not used for some time.  I have had this happen to me numerous times.
