Reviews I have read indicate the Canon Pixma iP4600 is the best general-use inkjet printer on the market. While it is part of Canon's photo-printer line, the reviews say it produces text and graphics with a quality and economy that makes it sensible for daily needs. Replacing all five inks (two blacks -- longer-lived pigment for text, dye for photos) will cost about $60. The Canon Pixma iP4600 will print directly from your camera (as long asthe camera is PictBridge compatible), unfortunately, there is no LCD preview screen and no memory card slot. Some of the reviews complained about slow printing speeds, particularly when printing in the duplex mode. Duplex printing is a plus for the street price ($80-$85), and it's a feature missing from the top low-cost printer in reviews, the Canon Pixma iP2600 (*est. $50).

<h2>Canon Pixma iP4600 cont.</h1
As is the case with most of the Canon inkjets, the case on the Canon Pixma iP4600 is almost completely finished in
high-gloss piano black, which looks good until you touch it and leave
fingerprints on it. It’s somewhat smaller than some of the earlier Canon printers. This leaves the paper cassette, which fits under the printer, sticking out
the front. (It is obscured by the output tray when you have the
front cover down, it makes it look less sleek when the Pixma iP4600 printer’s cover is closed.) A second paper source, a rear tray is brought into play when you
fold up the top cover.
